Lint Center Awards Scholarship to

First Lieutenant, John D. Deniston, US Air Force

Lint Center for National Security Studies Awards U.S. Army Counterintelligence Special Agent, Staff Sgt. Richard Eaton Jr. Memorial Scholarship

WASHINGTON, D.C., March, 2010 – The Lint Center, a non-profit charity, focused on supporting the educational pursuits of the next generation of America’s Counterintelligence and National Security Workers, today formally announced that First Lieutenant, John D. Deniston, U.S. Air Force was awarded the prestigious Richard Eaton Jr. Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is dedicated in honor of Richard Eaton, a United States Army Counterintelligence Special Agent and two-time Bronze Star recipient who died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, in 2003.

“National service is an honor and being awarded a Lint Center scholarship to further my desire to serve this country with distinction is a true privilege,” said John D. Deniston, First Lieutenant, U.S. Air Force and current graduate student focused on Strategy and Policy. “Having received a scholarship whose namesake, Richard Eaton, embodies service and sacrifice, I feel a greater sense of responsibility to focus on my studies  in order to remain a value contributor to America’s national security apparatus.”

“The Lint Center through its dedication, tireless effort, and with profound reverence for the legacy of my son has awarded this memorial scholarship to a candidate worthy of its namesake,” said Sharon Noble Eaton, Special Agent Richard Eaton’s mother. “Mr. Deniston shares my son’s passion for service and our family’s appreciation for educating the next generation of America’s fighting men and women who proudly wear the uniform.”

“The Lint Center strives to identify, support, and mentor worthy scholarship applicants with the aptitude, experience, and leadership potential to make a profound difference in securing America in the years to come,” said Jim Lint, Chairman and CEO of the Lint Center for National Security Studies. “The Lint Center is pleased to recognize and support Deniston as he continues his graduate studies. We were particularly pleased with his forward thinking essay on terrorist networks use of influence-operations and his discussions on counter-influence policy to mitigate such terrorist’s efforts operating against the United States.”
